As part of the prestigious 2026 National Magazine Awards, the American Society of Magazine Editors ( ASME) has chosen Senior Designer Chris Panicker as one of its honorees for the ASME Next Award program.

As the major force įn print anḑ digital mediα, ASME Next įs recognized as tⱨe industry’s leader. Members of its editorial staff and freelancers collectively have up to seven years of industry expertise and hold positions like newspaper assistant, associate editor, associate editor, online editor, social media editor, video producer, and other related positions in design and photography.

Chris Panicker joined the Pitchfork design group in 2023, and in 2025 he was promoted to Senior Custom. He has contributed significantly to our site’s visual, contributing to our Zines featuring work by Bladee, Turnstile, Oklou, and Dijon, and producing our attractive and special activity images for our weekly Selects row.

Chris was praised by Keir Novesky, the global style chairman for GQ and Pitchfork, in his asking statement, saying that “he is a real anomaly in the media scenery. ” He constantly tackles difficult tasks with strong dates while still maintaining a remarkably positive approach and a calm demeanor. His quick, almost daily creation of creative Pitchfork Selects designs, as well as his hand-crafted, wonderful typeface for GQ’s many important issue of the year, are just the start of his design career.
