Ringo Starr is on a mission to turn those frowns upside down! The legendary drummer from The Beatles recently announced that his upcoming album, set to be released in September, boasts an exceptional title, reminiscent of his 2012 EP, Change The World.
In a press release regarding his new project, EP3, Starr shared, “I spend every opportunity I have in my studio writing and recording. This has always been my passion, and I will keep pursuing it. By releasing EPs more frequently, I can maintain my creativity and ensure each song receives the attention it deserves.”
Starr emphasized that the album will feature “recognizable vocals, uplifting lyrics, and catchy melodies.” This mini-album will include four brand-new tracks, collaborating with renowned musicians like Bruce Sugar, Linda Perry, Dave Koz, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and Steve Lukather.
To celebrate this exciting announcement, Starr has released a vibrant music video for his new single, “World Go Round.” This mid-tempo track is filled with heartwarming lyrics aimed at fostering connection during these isolating times:
“We can try to rise above/ It only takes a little love/ Hey, hey/ We all make the world go ’round/ You’re not alone in this/ We all make the world go ’round.”
Since The Beatles disbanded, Starr has been remarkably prolific, releasing 20 solo albums commencing with Sentimental Journey in 1970. His latest full-length project was What’s My Name, which came out in 2019.
The tirelessly active 82-year-old has rarely paused in his musical endeavors; the longest break he ever took between albums was nine years. In 1983, he dropped Old Wave followed by a pause until Time Takes Time in 1992.
Apart from his illustrious music career, Starr is also a successful author, having penned three books, with his most recent work, Photograph, released in 2015.
